Switcho, high bills make business soar

Last year, around 350,000 people tried Switcho for the first time

, a 100% digital and free service that helps you save on electricity, gas, telephony and insurance costs. Founded as a startup in 2019, it is now engaged in the management of utilities for over 600 thousand members: just upload your bill to find out whether or not there are better offers than the current one, possibly delegating all the bureaucracy of switching suppliers to Switcho. High bills, the closure of the protected market, the complexity of electricity and gas tariffs: these are just some of the reasons that, in 2023, have prompted more and more Italians to inform themselves and take action to better manage their supply contracts. Although the energy market was more stable in the year just ended than in 2022, The effects of the energy crisis continued to be felt, attracting a great deal of media attention and awareness among consumers. “The 2023 results are a great satisfaction for us,” says Marco Tricarico, CEO and co-founder of Switcho, in a note, ” because they show us that we have managed to bring real value to many families. In fact, we have analyzed over 400 thousand bills and offered proposals to save as much as 95 million euros in savings only last year.” A direct consequence of these numbers is economic growth: with revenues increased by 3.5 times compared to 2022, the year in which turnover was just under 1.7 million euros, Switcho reached profitability in 2023 after 4 years on the market. Tricarico continues: “We were particularly keen to make the business profitable as soon as possible because in today’s environment it is a fundamental aspect for a solid startup. The continuous search for a balance between costs and revenues is what has rewarded us so far: the biggest challenge is not only to grow, but to do it in a sustainable way”.

Partnerships with banks

A valuable contribution in this regard also comes from the partnerships established over the years with various companies in the banking world, a channel that has been further strengthened in 2023. In March, in fact, the collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo has started which, thanks to the integration of Switcho’s services into the Intesa Sanpaolo Mobile app, allows millions of the bank’s customers to simply save on utilities. This partnership it is part of a thriving ecosystem that also includes Banca Mediolanum, Credem Banca and HYPE, to name a few examples. The focus is also on customers when developing new features: in 2023, the Switcho team worked to make the range of services offered even richer, expanding the types of policies that can be subscribed, in addition to those for vehicles, now also include those for the home, pets and micromobility, and adding new energy efficiency services such as air conditioners, boilers and photovoltaic panels. Finally, great attention has been paid to the continuous improvement of the mobile apptag. “Since its launch, we have conceived the app as a tool that helps our users to stay engaged with our proposals – says the CEO – – In line with this philosophy, last year we enriched it with a new section dedicated to savings tips, which helps us to always be there for our users with useful and constantly updated ideas”. In 2024, Switcho intends to continue on the path already traced, further improving the electricity and gas savings services and the mobile application. Not to mention the development of new services and the expansion of the network thanks to new banking partnerships: all with the aim of helping more and more families to save.
