Startup Tourism Association, Giulia Trombin new president

Change at the top of the Startup Tourism Association, the Board of Directors unanimously elected Giulia Trombin as the new president, who takes over from Karin Venneri who after three terms now assumes the role of vice president, already held by Giulia Trombin. Giulia Trombin, declares in a note: “This is the right time for me. After years of professional and personal growth, I feel ready to lead the Startup Tourism Association. Continuity in the passing of the baton is fundamental, and I have been lucky enough to follow Karin Venneri’s activities closely. Now, with a comprehensive view of the needs of startups and aware of the solidity achieved by the Association, I am excited to contribute to its future development.” Karin Venneri adds: “Entrusting the task to Giulia can only further confirm the commitment and common vision we have of the Association. I find in her the skills and the right approach to continue this path of growth and I will continue to support her in my role as deputy, together with the whole team”. Giulia Trombin began her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 21, co-founding Sharewood, a travel design platform specializing in experiential, active and conscious travel. His decision not to go down the traditional academic path was motivated by the belief that “founding a startup is a privilege.” Sharewood, founded in 2017, has gone through the covid challenge, turning into a reference success story within the startup network.

Objectives and prospects

The new president outlined some key strategies for her mandate: “My vision for the Startup Tourism Association is to take the brand internationally, creating strategic partnerships with similar ecosystems in Europe. I firmly believe in the synergy between startups and corporates, and we will work to facilitate a closer collaboration between the two, accelerating innovation processes in the tourism sector”. The Association, with over 130 associated startups, is a point of reference in the Italian ecosystem for innovation in the tourism sector. Precisely because of her direct experience in the various stages of a startup’s development, from finding funds through crowdfunding to consolidating with an investment fund, Giulia Trombin emphasizes the importance of listening carefully to the needs of startups, working in collaboration with institutions to promote innovation and growth in the sector. “We will also work with local governments to bring innovation not only to large corporations, but also to destinations, creating business opportunities for our startups.” Giulia highlights the importance of the Startup Tourism Association team: “Our team is the key to success. Despite the voluntary approach, we work with passion and determination. I am grateful to be able to share this journey with such a close-knit operational team: Karin Venneri (vice president), Flavio Tagliabue (secretary general and treasurer), Claudio Dell’Accio (head of territorial representatives), Edouard du Coudray (head of internationalization), Raffaella De Donato and Shari Chudoba (community manager and project manager)”. The president’s first official outing will be at BIT (International Tourism Exchange) in Milan, where on February 4 and 5 the Startup Tourism Association will again be at the center of the BIT Talks, the conference space of the fair. Giulia Trombin, in particular, will be a guest together with Karin Venneri in the panel of the Association’s Study Center where the data monitoring the travel startup ecosystem in Italy will be presented.
