Scientifica VC leads CyLock’s EUR 500,000 round

CyLock, a startup that innovates in the cybersecurity field, reports that it has completed a EUR 500,000 round led by Scientifica Venture Capital and also supported by CDP Venture Capital and Startup Wise Guys through the Cyber Xcelerator accelerator and Exor Ventures.

This investment is in addition to the EUR 320,000 already raised by CyLock through the Cyber Xcelerator accelerator, part of the National Network of CDP Venture Capital, Zest and Innova Venture, the venture capital fund financed by the Lazio Region, and business angels.

CyLock is the 14th startup to enter Scientifica Venture Capital’s portfolio, and its team conceived and developed the EVA software, which empowers cybersecurity specialists to test IT systems. EVA is the first extended vulnerability assessment, as it goes beyond the concept of traditional testing with solutions aimed at closing access to hacker attacks. This is particularly relevant in a context in which the shortage of cybersecurity experts makes organisations vulnerable to hacker attacks.

Traditionally, preventing cyber attacks requires the intervention of security professionals (ethical hackers) who use complex dashboards to configure test parameters and manage vulnerabilities and related risks. CyLock’s technology, on the other hand, delivered in SaaS mode, self-configures and simulates thousands of attacks with speed, accuracy and without requiring configuration skills, interpretation of results, maintenance or hacking, thanks to the use of a proprietary artificial intelligence-based information processing.

Compared to competitors on the market, this software can be used by anyone, overcomes the limitation of traditional vulnerability assessments by intelligently removing false positives, usually reported by the most commonly used tools, and produces intelligible and ready-to-use reports. In this way, EVA guarantees a high level of efficiency and also reduces the average time required by traditional testing activities by more than 80%.

Users can access tests with a single click and receive results classified by risk level, organised according to international standards and compliant with the requirements of frameworks such as ISO 27001 and the NIS2 and GDPR regulations. It is also possible to directly export the results in PDF format for easy sharing with experts and reviewers, and to take advantage of a unique procedure that guides you step by step through the correction of identified vulnerabilities.

“We do not want to provide another dashboard for security specialists, we have radically changed the perspective from a vulnerability management dashboard to a tool that provides concrete solutions to stop hacker attacks,” says Diego Padovan, CEO of CyLock, in a note.

“We are thrilled to have invested in CyLock, a startup that intends to redesign cybersecurity by introducing an automated tool, ready to be applied in any context and suitable for everyone,” adds Riccardo D’Alessandri, managing partner of Scientifica Venture Capital.

“This further investment in CyLock is a demonstration of how, through the programmes of CDP Venture Capital’s National Accelerators Network, we want to support the growth of start-ups specialising in different market fields,” says Stefano Molino, senior partner and head of CDP Venture Capital’s Accelerators Fund. Cylock has developed a concrete technology that offers a cybersecurity solution that can also be used by non-specialised personnel, expanding the sphere of protection against digital threats and protecting the IT infrastructure of organisations’.
