Meal vouchers in discount stores with Coverflex

Coverflex, a corporate welfare startup that a year ago closed a €15 million round and acquired EatsReady, announces that it has closed an agreement with Penny, a food discount store of the Rewe group, with the aim of bringing Coverflex meal vouchers to the points of sale, a strategy that has already been adopted recently by Satispay, which has signed a similar agreement with MD Italia , Starting from 28 February 2024, customers who have Coverflex meal vouchers can use their Coverflex voucher card in all Penny stores, taking advantage of a convenient and fast shopping experience: in-store payment takes place in a single transaction, simply by placing the card on the POS, thanks to the possibility of combining meal vouchers and extra credits pre-loaded on their Coverflex card. Thanks to the zero commissions, Coverflex meal vouchers are economically sustainable for large-scale retail operators and even more so for discounters, who can now accept this form of payment without compromising their margins, offering an additional service that is particularly requested and appreciated by customers.

Points of sale throughout Italy

Penny Italia is present in the country with 449 points of sale distributed in the main regions of Italy. In addition, the company, with its more than 5000 employees, 62% of whom are women, has been carrying out concrete initiatives for years in the fight against food waste, environmental protection and social sustainability, with values similar to Coverflex, which in 2023 obtained B Corp certification, globally recognized as an inclusive business badge, equitable and regenerative. “Our goal at Coverflex is to make meal vouchers, and more generally corporate welfare, really spendable for employees and economically sustainable for large-scale distribution. This strategic partnership with Penny allows us to respond to an important desire of users: that of being able to use their meal vouchers in the trusted discount store, further optimizing savings,” comments Francesca Pedroni, head of network for Coverflex, in a note. “When you have the responsibility of studying financial solutions,” adds Marina Enna, administration & financial Penny Italia, “the challenge is to become aware that business processes continuously impact the lives of people, customers and collaborators. You win when you create shared well-being and efficiency in making the most of the tools available, with win-win operations just like this operation with Coverflex”.
