Maurizio Talarico at the helm of Revolut in Italy

Revolut appoints Maurizio Talarico as its new head of branch and head of lending for the Italian market. Talarico joins from over six years in Admiral Group where he was chief operating officer of ConTe Prestiti. Previously, he held other roles including head of loan at ConTe Assicurazioni. Thanks to his experience in the financial services and insurance sector both locally and internationally, Talarico is a strategic figure to support the activation of Revolut’s Italian subsidiary.

Revolut is committed to increasing its presence in Italy, starting with the opening of the local branch with the aim of enabling a series of initiatives for its Italian customers. The company is planning to offer accounts with IBAN IT, a crucial step in establishing Revolut as the main account for many Italians looking for an alternative to traditional banks. The launch of IT IBANs would not only increase Revolut’s acceptance across the country and allow customers to take advantage of additional services, but it would also add an extra layer of protection thanks to oversight by local authorities. In addition, Revolut is working on the possibility of launching personal loans at competitive interest rates and a flexible savings product to allow customers to get the most out of their money.

More attention to Italian users

Revolut’s intuitive app offers physical and virtual cards to pay anywhere in the world, analytics and budgeting tools to effectively track and manage expenses, pagoPA payments and instant SEPA transfers without commissions, cashback on purchases, accommodations and travel experiences, pockets to set aside money and more.

“I am proud to start this new journey in a company that has managed to attract over 35 million people worldwide in just 8 years and to establish itself in Italy by becoming the second most downloaded banking app,” Talarico said in a statement. With a third of our 1.5 million Italian customers generated in the last year alone, I see many more opportunities for a bank with innovative solutions that can reduce, or even eliminate, fees on several key banking services, such as pagoPA or SEPA instant transfers, just to name a few. Italians are looking for a new and better banking alternative and our ambition to become a prime account is the answer to this growing need.”

In addition to the hiring of Maurizio Talarico, the Italian team is enriched with other professionals in the areas of legal, compliance and credit who will work on growth in the country and product development to make Revolut even more relevant to local consumers.
