LIFTT reports that it has finalised a one million euro seed investment round in Composite Research, a Turin-based company that develops and patents technological solutions related to the industrial world, through the use of composite materials and the development of innovative applications capable of harmonising with all production processes.
The capital raised will be used to consolidate the team, which currently consists of 10 professionals, and will ensure the development of the commercialisation of the innovative solutions developed by the company. The funding will also support the progress and ongoing efforts of the research and development department in the identification of new composite materials.
Composite Research, founded in 2015, has developed, on the one hand, multiple products for solving the problems of production processes and, on the other hand, numerous technologies that can simultaneously increase profitability and efficiency with a consequent positive impact on the environment.
The fields of application of the solutions developed by Composite Research, which currently holds seven patents registered in several countries, range from oil gas to automotive, from aerospace to defence, as well as healthcare and construction.
Among the main innovations is MadFlex, a sandwich-type composite with asymmetrical flexural characteristics, which combines compressive strength on the one hand with flexibility and tensile strength on the other.
Its first market application, Patch MedFlex, was awarded the ‘Seal of Excellence’ by the European Innovation Council (EIC) and is the most durable and fastest universal solution for the repair of low, medium and high-pressure gas distribution pipelines, saving between 60 and 80 per cent of repair costs.
In 2023, the company concluded a framework contract with Italgas for the supply of 20,000 kits in 24 months
Edoardo Bianchi, LIFTT project manager, says in a note: ‘The technologies developed by Composite Research represent a breakthrough in the efficiency and maintenance of industrial processes, and can be applied with great functionality in a variety of sectors. LIFTT has always been focused on high-tech companies that are able to innovate and make a significant impact in the industry, and we are therefore pleased to be able to support them in their growth path’.
Eugenio Fossat, co-founder and CEO of Composite Research says: “It is an honour for us to have gained the trust of LIFTT, which believes in and supports our reality and our development project. There is still a long way to go and many challenges await us. I am sure that, with the Composite Research team and the support of those who believe in our development plan, we will be able to come up with many innovations to renew the world through materials, projecting our ideas and composite materials towards a future that is increasingly green, sustainable and at the forefront of innovation.
