Hitachi Rail chooses Roboze 3D printers

Roboze, an Italian scale-up operating in the field of additive manufacturing for high-performance materials, announces that it has entered into a partnership with Hitachi Rail, a company engaged in the railway sector.

Hitachi Rail has chosen the Roboze Argo 500 solution to operate its high-tech plant in Naples and its new digital railway plant in Washington County, Maryland-U.S., to implement industrial 3D printing technology using materials such as Ultem 9085 and Carbon Peek for the production of spare parts for its trains.

The railway industry is faced with the constant challenge of availability and costs associated with the production of spare parts. Roboze’s additive manufacturing technology offers a concrete answer to this problem, enabling faster and more cost-effective production than traditional methods of machining. With the implementation of the Argo 500 solution, Hitachi Rail can now replace traditionally machined metal parts, significantly reducing costs and delivery times.

The collaboration between Hitachi Rail and Roboze extends beyond just supplying machines.
Hitachi Rail will also benefit from the engineering services and advice of the teams of experts of the scaleup, both in the US and Italy, ensuring continuous and highly specialised support.

Hitachi Rail will soon open a state-of-the-art train factory in Washington County, Maryland.
Maryland. The $70 million factory, set to deliver the new fleet of 8000-series railcars for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority as its first order, will draw on the technology expertise of the entire Hitachi Group to be its most advanced digital site. By partnering with Roboze, Hitachi Rail will be able to leverage its advanced 3D printing solution to produce prototypes and parts for the rail industry.

“The partnership with Roboze underlines our commitment to provide our customers with advanced, high-quality manufacturing. This partnership will allow us to leverage 3D printing to improve operational efficiency and reduce production costs for prototypes and railway parts,’ says Luca D’Aquila, COO Hitachi Rail Group and CEO Hitachi Rail Italy, in a note. . Questa soluzione additiva sarà utilizzata nel nostro sito di Napoli e nella nostra nuova fabbrica digitale di Washington County, nel Maryland. permettendoci di rispondere efficacemente alle esigenze dei nostri clienti”.

Hitachi Rail’s choice of Roboze underlines the growing importance of additive manufacturing in the rail industry. This technology not only improves production efficiency but also represents a significant step towards greater sustainability and innovation in the transport industry.

“Roboze continues to prove a reliable and innovative partner for companies aiming to rethink their production and push the bar of progress ever faster through technology,” adds Alessio Lorusso, founder and CEO of Roboze. (Photo: Hitachi Rail)
