Cosmica startup that aims to connect talents in the digital world with companies through the concept of the Talent-as-a-Service (TaaS) model, and which just over a year ago closed a round of 1.85 million euros and last February acquired Bioss, announces that it has completed a new round of 4 million euros.
Lead investor in the transaction is PranaVentures, a venture capital fund specializing in seed and post-seed investments that has chosen to reinvest considering the company’s positive results and its significant impact in the HRtech sector. The transaction also sees the participation of some business angels such as Roberto Marsella, Fabio Troiani, the family offices of 40Jemz and Intesa Sanpaolo.
The new round is part of the growth strategy of the project, born in 2020 from an intuition of the CEO, Francesco Marino, and co-founders Matteo Roversi and Simone Tornabene who in four years have led the startup to a turnover that has gone from 2.2 million euros in 2022 to 4.5 million euros in 2023, doubling growth for the third year in a row since its inception.
International Expansion
Cosmico today has a community of over 16,000 professionals in the fields of coding, design, marketing, cybersecurity, data & AI and over 80 clients such as NTT Data, Sketchin, Fjord, Capgemini, Huawei, Dude, AKQA, Alkemy, Facile.it, Publicis Sapient, Ogilvy, Hibo.
The Series A round will allow the startup to consolidate its position in Italy and increase the community of talents, in the face of an increasing demand for professionals in the technological and creative fields. In addition, the funds will accelerate international growth following the recent opening of the Spanish office in Madrid. With over 3 million euros sold in the first quarter of 2024, today Cosmico aims to close the year with 10 million in turnover at group level.
Francesco Marino, CEO and co-founder says in a note: “Although Cosmico has been EBITDA-positive since the first year, we have decided to continue with a funding strategy that has opened up the share capital to entities synergistic with our business, not only with their capital. This is why we are proud to have been chosen by investors such as Troiani or Marsella, to have seen the trust of previous investors confirmed, thanks also to the support of the Growth Capital team, and to have PranaVentures at our side as lead investor”.
Lisa Di Sevo, CEO of PranaVentures, adds: “In the age of digital nomads, with more and more companies looking for new solutions and technologies to attract talent, we are excited to continue to support Cosmico and to be alongside Francesco, Simone and Matteo. Their innovative proposal has been able to respond effectively to the new needs of the labour market. In recent months, the Cosmico team has demonstrated its ability to acquire significant market shares, also thanks to strategic operations, and the new resources will help the company to further consolidate its presence, both nationally and internationally”.
Cosmico was supported in the round by Growth Capital as financial advisor, as part of the A-Road acceleration and fundraising program, and by Portolano Cavallo as legal advisor.
