Cyber Guru acquires French start-up Mantra

Cyber Guru, an Italian security awareness training platform, announces the acquisition of Mantra, a French start-up that develops innovative cybersecurity awareness and employee protection solutions. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

Together, the companies will combine skills and resources from both teams to advance the mission of strengthening employee training and resilience against cyber threats and helping businesses defend their operations against attacks by cyber criminals.

Founded in 2017, Cyber Guru offers public and private enterprises of all sizes a comprehensive and modern security awareness platform. With over 700 customers, Cyber Guru is able to change employee and contractor behaviour, manage human risk and achieve compliance with minimal resources. Today, over one million active users in more than 90 countries are trained through automated training paths powered by a proprietary machine learning model driven by artificial intelligence.

Cyber Guru will integrate Mantra’s security awareness solutions, including real-time defence and chat-based training, and the respective platforms will combine advanced machine learning models and the more than 340 billion data points to deliver highly customised and effective cyber security training to over 1,000 enterprise customers and more than 1.5 million total active users.

This is how Gianni Baroni, CEO of Cyber Guru comments on the transaction when speaking to Startupbusiness: ‘It is not every day that an Italian tech company acquires a technology company abroad, and it is even rarer to do so with the support of international investors. The integration of Mantra’s solutions with our security awareness training platform marks a decisive step in our growth and consolidation at European level. This acquisition will enable us to offer our customers an even more innovative and comprehensive proposition, combining advanced technologies and excellence in expertise to strengthen companies’ resilience against cyber threats.

Under the agreement, the entire Mantra team, including its co-founders, will join Cyber Guru. CEO Gaspard Droz will become country managing director for France, while CTO Guillaume Charhon will assume the role of group chief architect.

“By combining our strength in go-to-market with leadership in AI, machine learning and automation, we will become Europe’s leading provider of cybersecurity awareness solutions,” said Gaspard Droz, CEO of Mantra, in a note. “I am excited to provide our customers with a broader range of solutions to strengthen their security by providing our partners with higher value partnership programmes.

The acquisition is a first step to further strengthen the market-leading position in France and Europe and accelerate growth over the next 12 months. The companies will work closely together to advance the shared mission of creating more value for customers, employees and stakeholders with an expanded offering, strategic initiatives and innovative solutions.
