Cubbit, new technological solution and new partnerships

DS3 Composer is the next-generation, secure and scalable cloud solution that aims to put control of data back in the hands of managed service providers, resellers and enterprises, allowing them to create their own sovereign, hyper-resilient and 100% S3 compatible cloud storage in minutes.

DS3 Composer is the new solution from Cubbit, the Italian scaleup that invented distributed cloud storage, and is based on DS3 technology, a distributed, multi-tenant and S3 compatible cloud storage developed and already adopted by over 250 companies and MSPs across Europe, including Exclusive Networks, and Leonardo. By creating fully customizable, distributed cloud networks, DS3 Composer delivers digital independence that meets the needs of regulatory compliance and sustainability, and enables cost savings of between 50 and 90 percent compared to traditional cloud storage and on-premise storage (on-premises storage) solutions. An innovative solution that Cubbit is rolling out across Europe through important technology partnerships, such as the one with HPE (Hewlett Packard Enterprise), the edge to cloud company on a global scale, and the one with Equinix, a global provider of data centers and colocation for enterprise networks and cloud computing.

DS3 Composer is based on Cubbit’s DS3 technology, where, unlike traditional cloud storage, there is no need to store data in a few centralized data centers. On the contrary, files uploaded to DS3 are protected by different levels of security, encrypted, fragmented and replicated across multiple geographical locations, even within a single country. This addresses each nation’s unique digital sovereignty needs, such as the Clarifying Lawful Overseas Use of Data Act (known as the Cloud Act), which has significant implications for organizations with a global footprint that now urgently need to re-evaluate their data storage and management strategies. With Cubbit’s DS3 Composer, businesses can meet all compliance requirements (including NIS2, GDPR, ACN, and ISO 27001), while ensuring control over data and hyper-resilience against ransomware and localized disasters. DS3 Composer collects and aggregates new and recycled assets across multiple locations – edge, on-premises, private data centers, and/or public cloud – and makes them available through a single management platform. Resources are organized into geo-distributed networks, and each node in the network can provide both access and capacity via the S3 1 protocol.

Enrico Signoretti, VP product and partnerships at Cubbit, commented in a statement: “Distributed cloud computing greatly simplifies data management and puts control of information and costs back in the hands of customers. Our DS3 Composer enables businesses and partners to not only benefit from fully customizable cloud storage, but also overcome a number of complex challenges facing organizations today, such as regulatory compliance and data sovereignty, cyber threats, the growing need to store large amounts of data at the edge, and unexpected storage costs.”

Partnerships

In order to expand its innovative service across Europe, Cubbit has signed several technology partnerships including those with HPE and Equinix. HPE (Hewlett Packard Enterprise), these two great cloud-edge enterprise companies have recognized the value of Cubbit by becoming technology partners. They will therefore be the first platforms on which DS3 Composer will run.

Two important partnerships, which give further and concrete proof of the validity of the new service developed and offered by the Bologna-based scaleup, choices that follow the positive feedback already received on the market from world-renowned analysts and journalists in the storage world, as well as the decision of Leonardo, a company with a turnover of $14 billion and a world leader in defense and security, to be the first partner ever to adopt the service.
A customer who purchases DS3 Composer will be able to create their own customized, white-label cloud storage service in minutes, with all the technical complexities left in the backend and automatically handled by the solution itself. The customer can choose where to build their network, and thanks to the new partnership they will be able to select the data centers in which to save the data in a few clicks from Cubbit’s intuitive interface. For HPE, it will be possible to install the Cubbit solution directly on their hardware. By creating their own cloud storage, the customer will be able to choose the area where the data will be stored (e.g. within a specific country, or geographical perimeter of his choice). In the case of a reseller, this option will allow it to comply with specific national regulations (e.g. ACN/AgID in Italy), allowing it to offer the service in highly regulated countries and industries such as healthcare and public administration. DS3 Composer is platform agnostic. Thanks to Cubbit’s distributed technology, every piece of data is encrypted, fragmented and replicated across multiple geographies and can be stored simultaneously on both Equinix data centers and HPE hardware, increasing resilience against ransomware and localized disasters.
This concept of ‘platform agnostic’, or digital independence, finds further practical application on multi-cloud strategies. There are many cloud storage services on the market, but once the data is stored on their systems, it becomes complex to migrate it elsewhere. To do this, you need to set up a migration plan that takes time and resources to schedule and may cause service disruptions in the process. (Photo by fabio on Unsplash)
