Cagliari more deeply in startup mood with the new OpenCampus powered by Tiscali

OpenCampus is the new hub of innovation born in Cagliari (Sardinia) and, not surprisingly, it is powered by Tiscali, one of the biggest Telco in Europe founded by Renato Soru in ’90s.

Actually, two things have never failed in Tiscali: the push for innovation (recent examples are products like Indoona and Istella) and local roots. Items that have never prevented its international growth.  OpenCampus, launching pad for startups, is the brand new initiative totally committed on the innovation ecosystem.

The OpenCampus, based in the futuristic and sunny Tiscali headquarter of Sa Illetta, is intended for incubation of digital startups, co-working and innovative events and workshops.

The mission is also to support the creation of new startups in the digital environment and to speed up their development, leveraging on the primary logistical services and access to the expertise of Tiscali’s managers and technicians as well as through a constant exchange of information and the cooperation with other startups.

“The future of Italy goes through innovation and knowledge industry,” said Renato Soru, President and CEO of Tiscali. “With Open Campus, we want to create a place of confrontation and contamination where people are animated by the same passion and desire to grow. We reaffirm our commitment to contribute to the development of new business initiatives, because our goal is to work actively in the process of growth of new businesses by giving space to the initiative of the many deserving young people that we have, an essential element to ensure a future for our country”.

“Tiscali was in the nineties a startup really disruptive and has developed into a large technology company without losing its spirit of innovation and believing that company’s decisions have a positive impact on the territory – said Alice Soru, Head of the prooject – The enthusiasm and constant drive for innovation has led us to develop products as brave as Indoona, Streamago and the recent search engine Istella. With the same approach, the project OpenCampus was born – which we believe very much – because we are convinced that Tiscali can make an effective contribution to the ecosystem of startups, especially in Sardinia, and contribute to the growth of those who work with creativity and passion to transform their idea in an independent work “.
